TweetDeck Vs DestroyTwitter 2

dt-vs-tdA while a back i made a post sharing a list of 5 reasons why i liked DestroyTwitter more then TweetDeck (Link). I was shocked that it was such a hit, over 800 hits in one day. Well its been a while since iv used TweetDeck so i thought id try the new version, and see what i thought. Im going to give a list of some good and bad things about it, compared DestroyTwitter.

Disclamer.

Please forgive me if my assumptions are wrong about TweetDeck and if there is a preference i may have over looked.

These are just my thoughts at this time, my feelings could change, or the apps may change and effect my feelings.

Wowmap Update

I just uploaded a new version of of my Wowmap. I dont really have a way to tell what i have changed and why. But the main things i can remember that changed where:

  • Icons: Redid all the icons, they stand out more and look alot better (at least i think they do)
  • Travel Markers: I Renamed all the travel markers labels to show the NPC’s name and not their location
  • Hallow’s End: Added all the locations for Tricks and Treats of Azeroth achievement. (Northrend soon to come)

I still have plans to add alot more data, like Innkeepers, Stable Masters, Graveyards. I also want to show the best route to run/fly/ride to the holiday locations. And last but not least finish up the ability to convert map cords to in game cords.

Got any suggestions, or data you’d like to submit, or just want to help out? Contact me.

WoW Map Zones

show_zonesA couple days ago, i added in a little helper function to my map that will add a polygon around each zone i have in my database. Just for shits and giggles. This is what it looks like, for Northrend at least. I think it looks kool.

Twitter Mirror?

Iv been using Destroytwitter for a while now and im loving it. But im not here to talk about DT in general, but more of an idea iv had for a way to save your twitter API calls.

If you use a Iphone or Ipod touch then you’ve probably tried or even use a twitter app. But there is a problem if you also use a desktop twitter app. You run out of API calls QUICKLY.

My idea is this: You have a Desktop app that all does the API calls, and then you have your Iphone app ping your desktop app to get the tweets. The Desktop app (and computer/router) would have to have a port open some way for the Iphone app and the Desktop app to communicate with each other. Other stuff could be possible too, like read status of each tweet would be synchronize. So you read a tweet on your Iphone and it wont show unread on your Desktop app, and visa versa.

I think its a good idea, but it might be hard to do. Im not that kinda of programmer.

But tell me what you think, does this idea have merit?

My Ipod Touch

DSCF0845Its here! Well its been here for about 24 hours, but still ain’t it pretty? :D

Iv been wanting one for ever since i really saw news of the Apple Iphone, but iv never had enough money to ever buy one let alone switch to ATT (i am Tmobile).

One day while i was gawking at the ipod touch on the Apple store i made the decisions to save up enough to buy it. With not having an real income it was going to take a LONG time, with my website charges and my WoW subscription. I did the math and it would take me approximately 5-6 months. So last Saturday i finely had enough to make the purchase. It shipped out Monday and showed up Thursday.

Now i need to buy some accessories:

  • Dock
  • Case
  • Headset with mic

I’v been downloading apps like crazy. Iv only bought one app, and so far i think its one of the best one iv gotten. Flight Control. Now i have to watch what i buy, $0.99 adds up quickly if you buy a lot of apps. Wish there was a way to try apps before you buy, like it will only work for like an hour, or so.
