Iv been using Destroytwitter for a while now and im loving it. But im not here to talk about DT in general, but more of an idea iv had for a way to save your twitter API calls.
If you use a Iphone or Ipod touch then you’ve probably tried or even use a twitter app. But there is a problem if you also use a desktop twitter app. You run out of API calls QUICKLY.
My idea is this: You have a Desktop app that all does the API calls, and then you have your Iphone app ping your desktop app to get the tweets. The Desktop app (and computer/router) would have to have a port open some way for the Iphone app and the Desktop app to communicate with each other. Other stuff could be possible too, like read status of each tweet would be synchronize. So you read a tweet on your Iphone and it wont show unread on your Desktop app, and visa versa.
I think its a good idea, but it might be hard to do. Im not that kinda of programmer.
But tell me what you think, does this idea have merit?

I’m pretty sure Tweetdeck will add the sync option pretty soon.
Not sure on grabbing the information from your machine, would be easier just to download all the tweets on both desktop and iphone and keep them synced on what is read/unread.
I never run out of API calls, what am I doing wrong? lol
