Fried PSU

Yesterday my computer restarted its self twice, but never started up, just reset and idled with nothing happening. Holding the power button doesn’t do a damn thing so i go and pull out the power cord (yes  i know a bad idea), i hear a spark, stop and find the switch on the PSU. Well that spark i head was bad (if you cant tell yet from the picture).

If you follow me on twitter (can also see it on my lifestream page) you probably already know this.

Well after my mom got home from work we went to Best Buy (she wanted to buy her laptop and wanted me to help her pick it out). We also picked up a new PSU and im seem to be all set. The new PSU is better then my old one, has room for expansion.

While as Bestbuy i also met some old friends who i haven’t seen in ages. Both of them working there too.

All in all it was a scary experience but turned out good, and it seems that nothing else was fried either.

My Lifestream

Not to long ago, i saw a video about the new LockerGnome.net and that it uses Wordpress and a plugin called Lifestream. So i did the search found it and installed it. So far im liking it. A one stop shop for all the things i do (that have RSS feeds) on the nets.

After i added Twitter, Last.fm, Hulu i realized that i dont have much of a life online to share. But since i do spend about 80% of my day in WoW and the WoWArmory just added in activity feeds showing achievement gains, boss kills and loots looted. I went to create the feed to my characters.

Iv got something that works and this is a good place to start using my GitHub account (and add that to my stream) so hopefully ill get that added.

Omg Its Finely 2010

Well looks like its finely ‘the future’. Its finely 2010, and its pronounced ‘twenty ten’ not ‘two thousand ten’… Get it right.

Now that its ‘the future’ i feel the urge to go watch movies released back in the 90s or late 80s to see what they thought the future would be like. Flying cars and crazy looking cities. I think i saw one movie where we had time travel or something.

I know its been a while since iv posted so ill make one long ass post to make up for it. First ill a few things iv done since my last post.

Loremaster

In WoW iv been doing alot of quests for the Loremaster achievement. I just started Eastern Kingdoms in the hope that it will give me the last 32 i need for Kalimdor.

WoWMap

I switched my wowmap to use the Kohana php framework. Over Codeigniter it is strict PHP 5 coding and it does not limit your access to global data like $_GET (the main problem i was having with CI). The only i dont like about it is, it doesn’t have a awesome name and logo like Codeigniter. I also updated the layout to have hover menu instead of a side bar panel, along with a nice WoW-ish theme. I like how it turned out.

Home Server

I thought it would be fun to have my own server, one where i could have my local AMP server running, maybe even vent and other stuff. Got and installed Kubuntu on one of my old computers (10 year old Sony Vaio). Set everything up good. Pushed it in to the corner, turned it on, and SSHed into it just fine. Turned it off for the night and in the morning it stopped working. Lame

Stargate

So its been a while since iv made any really good posts. But today im gonna try to see what i can come up with.

About a week and half ago i started to watch Stargate SG1 because i was getting bored with nothing to do. Started with season 1 and im just a little bit into season 2 as of writing this post. Its nice to be able to start over with the show, even tho i know the outcome and story of each episodes. Im not a huge fan like most who knows each episode by name.

I will be watching the rest of the show, and Atlantis one i get to that point in the time line.

What im really looking forward to is the new show, Stargate Universe (SGU). I dont really wanna go and describe the show for you but a team gets stuck on a ship the Ancients built a long time ago. And now have to find a way to survive.

As of this post there is 4 days left till the air of Stargate Universe.  It airs October Second.

I cant wait.
